I suppose it’s time for my second blog post in the “Random Stuff” category. I think what I want to do is open the door for communication between you (my valued customers) and me as a store owner. I probably shouldn’t over do it by asking a million questions all at once. I’m pretty sure that would be a bit overwhelming. I suppose what I’m wanting to do is to find out what I’m missing.

Without going into too much detail it’s actually pretty tough as an online store owner to know what your customers are thinking. I don’t know if you like something or hate it. I don’t know if my website is easy to navigate. I don’t know if  “punk baby clothes” is the best way to describe our clothes. I don’t know if you think we should be doing something that we are not. I just don’t know. I’m also curious to know if you think we keep up with the competition. But, here I go wondering too many things all at once. I need to keep it simple.

So, let me ask one question. I’m pretty sure this will be a regular part of this blog. So, if you want to see some changes in the store or want to give me some advice this will be your chance. Our first featured product on the blog is going to be our “Skater Onesie“. Just like all of our onesies it’s 100% cotton, super soft, comes in short sleeve and long, and is perfect for the future Tony Hawks of the world. I never personally was a skater. There were many skaters in my school way back in the… well… way back. I was into BMX and gradually got into a bit of freestyle and then moved on to motocross and doing freestyle on a dirtbike. It’s amazing how having kids really changes your priorities around. I haven’t done squat since my son was born ten years ago.

When I was originally doing our first designs for Crazy Baby I wanted to create something for all the skaters.  Even though I don’t skate, I totally dig it and feel a kinship with all of my skater friends. This design was one of the very first designs I ever did. It’s been for sale since day one and continues to sell well. It’s hard sometimes to balance “cute” and “cool” when it comes to baby clothes. I feel this design is a tad bit on the “cute” side. Decent sales numbers tell me it’s still “cool” though.

I had a friend way back in my rock band days who did graphic art. He created a logo for a CD we did back in the late nineties (Glad that is nowhere to be found!).  He always created logos with oval backgrounds. I loved that! It gave it a retro feel. I’m positive that’s why I used an oval background on this design. The “retro” look is pretty popular now and that oval background kind of has that a bit. I had seen several designs that looked like a silouette of a skater around the web before I started on this. I just hated to copy that design and now I’m glad I didn’t.

It took a year and eight months after Crazy Baby Clothing opened, but I finally made it into the world of blogging. Let me introduce myself. My name is Jay Stueve and I am the owner of Crazy Baby Clothing. I’ve known for quite a while how important it is to be able to communicate with my customers. I just haven’t had the time or taken the initiative to get the blog installed. No more excuses. The time has come! I’m sure things will start kind of slow, as do all things on the internet. I hope it grows into something that everyone can enjoy. I sure can talk. I always have an opinion. I’d like to think that I have a good sense of humor as well. So, hopefully you’ll enjoy reading my posts.

The last type of post you’ll see from me is a post in the “Random” category. I’m really looking forward to the random stuff. I find myself quite often in the mood to babble and this is a perfect outlet for me. I definately want to utilize this section as well for asking the readers and shoppers what they want or would like to see. I really hope to open up the lines of communication between the customer and myself. I can’t make my products better if you don’t tell me what is wrong with them. I can’t make better stuff if you don’t tell me what would be better. So, I encourage anyone and everyone to post comments on this blog. That’s what it’s here for.
